Rabbityness is actually a kind of sad book. But, importantly, it is also about celebrating the people (or rabbits!) who have brought colour and music to our lives but who are no longer with us. I think everyone has 'a rabbit' like this. Mine is my uncle who died when I was a teenager. There was such sadness when he disappeared from our lives but thank goodness I knew him for 13 years. He was a fabulous, witty, intelligent musician and classicist, a chef, a great brother and generally an extremely colourful character.
Our festival is going to be very fun. But the true spirit of the book is there too. There will be an opportunity to draw a picture of someone who has brought colour to your life. These pictures will all be pegged around Rabbit's hutch. We recommend lots of colour and sparkle, to bring out the colour that these people brought to the world.
Thank you Jo Empson for reminding us to celebrate our own special celebrities.
