We have been so privileged to have had a fantastic parade of artists taking up our residency in Dot to Dot Gallery over the past two years (that's right, nearly two years!) and we are extending what we do and our reach all the time. Our resident artists might not all have be big names (although some of them have been) but whether they are starting out, published illustrators, professionals or nearly professionals, we are very proud of curating and producing an engaging programme around their work.
This month is a bit of a landmark moment. We have an incredible artist in residence in the gallery - Guy Parker-Rees, I know! - but we also have a poet in residence, cruising the streets of Letchworth in his very own Spook Bike. His name is Joshua Seigal and his website is here.
Hopefully you have heard about our Frightful Writers Competition a writing competition for young writers. We've been running workshops in schools in Letchworth with Tamsyn Murray and Andy Stanton (heard of the Mr Gum books?) is coming to town in November to help judge the entries. (If you have an under 12, this is well-worth a punt! Closing date, Friday 14th November.) Joshua is coming to Letchworth on Tuesday and Wednesday to write a bit of frightful stuff of his own but also to inspire some wannabe writers. The details about his workshops are on the HALF-TERM page of the website. He is even staying in a room of a haunted house in Letchworth and he will be blogging as he goes.
So this is me bragging about my baby. Rhapsode just keeps on going and the road ahead is exciting. Many many thanks for all your support and come and take part in all the fun this week.
NB Licensed bar in the gallery on Saturday night with some great musicians. I know!!
